HOW TO PREPARE FOR DOG BOARDING
1) A collar, harness, and leash. All personal items will be put up safely.
2) Food and Medications. Separated and label each meal in a Ziploc bag. If you don't have time, don't worry. We will separate and label you dog's food and medications for you. Or, let us worry about the food, we have a selection of organic house food.
3) Label/Name the medications your dog is taking.
4) Current Vaccination records, for Bordetella, Distemper, and Rabies must be on file with us.
5) Phone number of a backup emergency contact person if you might be hard to reach on you cell phone.
1) Dogs who get dropped off for boarding in the morning do MUCH better overnight. This is especially true for your dog's FIRST overnight and for anxious or energetic dogs. The price is the same no matter what time you drop off!
2) Don't send food or treats that your dog isn't used to having at home.
3) Try to keep activities at home as normal as possible before you leave to avoid making your dog anxious about your upcoming trip.
HOW TO PACK YOUR DOG'S FOOD FOR A BOARDING STAY
OPTION #1:
Strongly recommended you bring your dogs normal food. This allows our staff more time to spend with your dog and less time in the kitchen. It also reduces the risk of miscommunication about feeding instructions for your dog and the chances of diarrhea.
Please send each meal in a baggie labeled with the date and time to be fed. Include canned food and treats in these baggies too if you can. If your dog eats whenever he wants to at home, we recommend that you estimate the amount of food he would eat in a day and separate that amount into 2 meals so we can ensure he is eating an appropriate amount.
Please put each dose of medicine or vitamins etc. in a separate baggie. Please put these medication baggies inside the food baggies. Don't package pills with "pill pockets" as the pills will get damp and begin to dissolve.
Please put about 1/3 more food than your dog normally eats each food baggie. He'll need extra calories to keep up! If a picky eater you can leave us a spare bag of food we can add in if needed.
We don't allow rawhides, greenies or other chew toys because they can sometimes cause health problems. But don't worry, Bark & Purr always has lots of nyla-bones to chew on in the playrooms and Slumber Areas!
Please either put your food label inside the baggie of food or tape the food label to the bag. Staples are dangerous and can fall into your dog's food.
We are able to refrigerate food including canned and raw. Please be sure there are no bones in your dog's meals or raw food.
OPTION #2:
We have a selection of Organic House Food available at no additional cost! We also carry specialty foods that can be purchased in store!
OPTION #3:
Don't want to pack your dog's food? Don't have time to pack? Just bring in your dog's food and medications and we will package them for you. Please remember there is a slight risk of miscommunication of directions with this option but we will do our very best to get clear instructions from you and pack your dog's food accordingly.
BOARDING FAQ'S
"Pawsitively". We always have a loving staff member stay right with your dog, all night long!
Please see our "Prepare For Boarding" page for complete details about what you need to bring for a boarding stay
Please do not bring blankets, toys, or other soft goods. Also, please don't bring rawhides, greenies, or other similar items. If your dog can't easily chew/eat an item, our staff will be unable to feed it due to the possibility of serious health issues
At Bark & Purr, your dog will never be put in a cage of any sort. (Unless there's an unexpected health or behavior issue that requires isolation or upon your request, you can also bring your own crate/kennel/cage). Instead, your dog will spend the night with his new friends in our posh Slumber Bay room. The Slumber Bay room features lots of blankets, beds, orthopedic doggie beds, a big flat screen TV to watch doggie movies on, and a bumping music system for doggie lullabies. It's a lot like a real slumber party!
That's the best thing about boarding your dog at Bark & Purr! They'll be so busy playing all day and so pooped by bedtime that he won't have time to remeber that you;re away!
Yes. Please see the main BOARDING page for rates and discounts.

Holiday reservations should be made well in advance as we do book full very early. For major holidays such as the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and Spring Break week in our area, you should plan on making your reservation several months in advance.

Yes! We average 20-30 guests per night during the week. We have more on the weekends and holidays
The earlier the better! Your dog will sleep much better in a new environment if he has had a whole day of playtime to get to know everyone and tire himself out. The rate is the same no matter what time of day you drop off.
Yes! We love senior dogs too! We have a designated sleeping space for older dogs, AWAY from the rowdy and rough young pups!
